This is the follow up to the highly appreciated first release of the compilation series issued by the Subbass label. Started recently with the “Subbass – Dubstep Made in Germany” issue the second release just lines up straight to that.

Again is tried to give an insight to the contemporary production standards concerning heavy bass music in Germany. The amazing and vast diversity of styles should convince the listener to see “Dubstep” as a phenomenon not only impacting in full effect inthe UK, but runs rampant global. Heavy Bass Music is rooting down internationally and by that breeding a new reception of dancefloor-music and music in general.

Subbass 2 – More Krautdubs gathers again producers from all around Germany. Featured are good old friends from the last volume as well as some newcomers to the series. As always this issue can`t and don`t want to set the claim to represent the German dubstep scene in general and entirely. But it wants to show that there is a growing mass of people for which the production of tunes is a big part of their passion in supporting the continuous emergence and establishing of sustaining structures for low frequency music. The legend of the Flying Dutchman concerns a ghost ship that can never make port, doomed to sail the oceans forever. It probably originates from 17th century nautical folklore. The oldest extant version dates to the late 18th century. Sightings in the 19th and 20th centuries report the ship to be glowing with ghostly light. It is said that if hailed by another ship, its crew will try to send messages to land or to people long dead. In ocean lore, the sight of this phantom ship is a portent of doom.

It's been pretty much three years since IJO honoured the Plainaudio catalogue with his Drill and Bass EP.

A lot happened in between. Not only did he live and work in London for over two years, gigged with Murcof, Plaid, Breakage or Ed Rush but also put out a record on his own (and with his own music obviously) and released electronic madness on various other netlabels like Envizagae and Resting Bell. Under his moniker 300 Degrees he branched out towards Techno and found a home at Canadian Napalm Enema Records.

Working in a London record shop obviously takes its toll: for his second installment on Plainaudio, IJO comes correct with two Neo-Jungle tunes we are now very happy to share with the public. Compared to his EP from 2006 both 'Floka' and 'Minutower' are rather tame beasts. However, it allows us to file this in our beloved Drum and Bass section and show, how versatile our man from Lithuania really is.

It might be the state before or after civilization. We slip into a green ambience. Surrounded by little creatures we walk through higher grass. Dark electronic sounds frighten us, but everything is in an harmonic stability. Do we strife through a primeval forest or trapped into an adventure game?

Gate Zero surprises with a smooth and calm releases which convinces by its balance: between natural and electronic sounds, between almost romantic harmonies and weird insertions. Major and minor at the same time, floating into each other on the same level, and merging beyond rightness. While listening we drift into a state of self-absorption and we can see clearly our path in this green world: We have to slow down to give all creatures and things their own place and time. Then, everything will have its inner truth beyond the antipodes.
